About Tom Murphy: Tom Murphy (full name: Thomas Andrew Murphy; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1968 until 1979 for the California Angels, Kansas City Royals, St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers, Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays. He played for the Angels from 1968 - 1972, Royals in 1972, Cardinals in 1973, Brewers from 1974 - 1976, Red Sox from 1976 - 1977 and Jays from 1977 - 1979. Over 12 seasons, he started 147 games, won 68 games, struck out 621 batters, and had a 3.78 ERA. Born on December 30, 1945 in Cleveland, OH, Murphy stands 6' 3 and weighs 185 lb. He attended Lufkin (Lufkin, TX) high school and was drafted by the California Angels in the 1st round (6th pick) of the 1967 amateur draft (January Secondary).
