Terry Jon Francona was born in April 22, 1959 in Aberdeen, South Dakota and also known as Tito among his circle. Terry is a Major League Baseball manager. Francona has handled the Boston Red Sox starting in 2004. While growing up outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania he was exposed to baseball at New Brighton, Pennsylvania High School where he did good under his mentor and coach Greg Faz Fazio. Terry was the son of Tito Francona, also a player for the majors during the period from 1956 to 1970. During a 1980 amateur draft by the Montreal Expos ,he was drafted during the first round of the University of Arizona but it was also in this year that his team won the College World Series and then awarded as the team's Most Outstanding Player. He is left-handed and his career rose up to the point of playing in the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies . Throughout the seasons, Francona experienced different positions but mostly known as first base and also popular as a contact hitter. Francona also became a major league coach for the team Detroit Tigers in 1996 together with Buddy Bell and in 2004, the Red Sox appointed him as club manager. Francona is married to Jacque Lang and has four children namely Nicholas, Alyssa, Leah, and Jamie. Residing in Brookline, Massachusetts, this coach is a family man and a coach by heart.
