Steven D. Hunter is a professional basketball player who was born on October 31, 1981 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Proviso East High School where other NBA stars graduated like Jim Brewer, Shannon Brown, Michael Finley and Dee Brown. After his high school career, he went to play collegiate basketball at DePaul University in Chicago. In 2001, he announced that he was eligible for the 2001 NBA Draft. He was drafted by the Orlando Magic as a first round, 15th pick in the 2001 NBA Draft. After his stint with the Magic, he also played for the Phoenix Suns and the Philadelphia 76ers. In the offseason of 2005, he entered as deal with the 76ers as a free agent. After playing for the 76ers, he was traded to the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets but it was announced that the Hornets did nor pursue the deal. Hunter was then traded to the Denver Nuggets along with Bobby Jones in exchange for Reggie Evans. He joined the Memphis Grizzlies on August 7, 2009. As a center forward, he has appeared in 400 games in his career as of the 2010 season and averaged 4.5 points. He started 130 games and has a rebound per game average of 3.2.
