Steve Allen Heiden was born on September 21, 1976 in Rushford, Minnesota. He is a professional football player in the National Football League. He went to South Dakota State University and played college football making a career record of 112 receptions for 1, 499 yards. He had an average of 13.4 receptions per yard and made eight touchdowns. Playing as a tight end, he entered the National Football League when he was drafted by the San Diego Chargers during the 1999 NFL Draft in which he ranked 69th overall. The Chargers picked him during the third round. He played 11 games in his first season as a rookie. On October 17, 1999, he made his first NFL appearance in a game against the Seattle Seahawks. He appeared in 15 games in his second season and made his very first touchdown in NFL on December 17. In 2002, he joined the Cleveland Browns and appeared in 16 regular seasons for the team. He made 18 receptions for 134 yards in 2003 and improved to 28 receptions for 287 yards in 2004. He played 16 games in 2006 and started six games. He made 36 receptions and two touchdowns. The Browns signed him to a contract extension for four years on April 14, 2007. In 2009, Heiden was included in the injured reserve after obtaining an ankle injury.
