Born in Salem, Oregon on December 14, 1969 is Cincinnati Reds' Scott Hatteberg. Graduating in 1998 at the Eisenhower High School, Hatteberg first made mark as an athlete when he was awarded as Most Valuable Player for the school's basketball and baseball teams. Later, on his senior year, he became team captain for the football team, hitting .570 and had 7 home runs. On his college years, he studied at the Washington State University where he played for the Cougars and brought three championships from 1989 to 1991. It was in 1991 that he was awarded MVP of the league. In the June 1991 Draft, Hatteberg was the third player acquired by the Boston Red Sox. Here, he played as catcher for seven seasons (1995-2001). Scott was able to make a record when in August 6, 2001, in a game against Texas Rangers, he hit a triple play and a grand slam on the following at-bat – he was the only player to have done that in the history of MLB. As his contract ended with the Sox, Hatteberg was assumed by the Oakland Athletics and played as designated hitter and first baseman. He played for the team for four consecutive seasons.
