Ryan Getzlaf was born on May 10, 1985 in Regina, Saskatchewan. An alternate captain and a professional ice hockey player, he is currently a member of Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League. This Canadian ice hockey center began skating when he was four and played various sports while growing up. Among the sports he played a young athlete, hockey was his focus. He went to Robert Usher Collegiate and graduated in 2003. Drafted by the Calgary Hitmen in round 3 of 2000 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft, he ranked 54th overall and began as an 18-point rookie player. After his first season, he advanced to 68 points in 2002 to 2003 season. He made his way to the National Hockey League in 2003 when he was drafted by Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the first round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He appeared in 57 games and scored 39 points. He played a key role for the Ducks to reach the 2007 Stanley Cup Finals and win over Ottawa Senators.. He was a leader in terms of scores with 17 points in 21 games. He joined his first NHA All-Star game in 2007 with Chris Pronger, Scott Niedermayer and Corey Perry. Getzlaf became an alternative captain in the start of the 2008-2009 season. Likewise ,he joined the 2009 National Hockey League All-Star Game in Montreal as a starter. He made a name in the international play in 2002 at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge.
