You can say that Rosey Grier is a Renaissance-man. Not only is a retired professional football, but he is also an actor, singer and a minister. Among the four, football was the first to enter his life. Grier went to Pennsylvania State University. During the 100th anniversary of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, he was named into the list for 100 influential student athletes. After playing college football, Grier decided to enter the 1955 NFL Draft. During the third round of the said draft, Grier was picked by the New York Giants. He went on to be the defensive tackle for the Giants from 1955 all the way to 1962. In 1956, Grier was able to lead the Giants all the way to the NFL Championship. He was also a valuable member of the team during the Easter Conference Championship of 1958-59 and 1961-62. For his efforts and amazing game play, Grier was named into the 1956 and 1960 Pro Bowl, and the 1956, 1958-62 All-Pro as a defensive tackle. Grier was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 1963 and—together with Deacon Jones, Merlin Olsen and Lamar Lundy—became part of the “Fearsome Foursome”.
