Ron Washington is a former American professional baseball player. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and graduated from John McDonough High School in New Orleans. Throughout his twelve year career, Washington played as shortstop for numerous teams in the Major League Baseball; the Los Angeles Dodgers, Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians and the Houston Astros Washington batted and threw right handed. Washington started his professional baseball career after he was signed by the Kansas City Royals on July 17, 1970 as amateur free agent, after which he spent the next ten seasons with three different organizations in the minor leagues. Washington was then called up with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1977 where he made his professional debut on September 10, hitting .368. Washington did not returned to the major league level until 1981 with the Twins where he would remain until 1986. He then played one season each for the Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians, and Houston Astros before retiring n 1989. After his retirement as a player, Washington served in the coaching staff of the New York Mets organization for five years before he was hired as first base coach by the Oakland Athletics in 1996. Washington then served as infield and third base coach for the A's between 1997 and 2006. Collect game memories through baseball souvenirs.
