Rollie Fingers is a retired Major League Baseball player who held the position of relief pitcher. At the end of his career, he was able to pitch for 944 games, made a 2.90 ERA, was responsible for 1,299 strikeouts and 341 saves, and held a win-loss record of 114-118. Fingers started playing in the minor league but made his MLB debut on September 15, 1968 for the Oakland Athletics. Fingers is best known for his contribution in relief pitching. He played for the Oakland Athletics from1968 to 1976. He signed up for the San Diego Padres in 1977 and stayed with the team until 1980. After that, he signed with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1981 till his retirement in 1985. Fingers made it to the All-Star selection seven times, consecutively from 1973 to 1976, 1978, 1981 and 1982. He also became instrumental in the Athletics winning the 1972, 1973 and 1974 World Series championships. Fingers was named the 1974 World Series MVP. He was named as the AL MVP, AL Cy Young Award, and AL Rolaids Relief Man of the Year in 1981. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992.
