Preston Pearson is a retired professional football player and was in the National Football League from 1967 down to 1980. Pearson played for the Baltimore Colts, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys while in the NFL. Born in Freeport, Illinois, Pearson decided to go to the University of Illinois where he played basketball and not football. During the 1967 NFL draft, Pearson was selected by the Baltimore Colts during the 12th round and was often part in special teams, usually as a rusher, a receiver or a kickoff returner in the NFL. Pearson was able to play in a total of five Super Bowls throughout his career – the Super Bowl III, IX, X, XII and XIII. He is currently ranked second all-time for the most number of Super Bowl appearances. Throughout the 14 seasons that he spent in the NFL, Pearson was able to catch 254 passes, rush 3,609 yards, and make 33 touchdowns. Pearson was under some of greatest NFL coaches including Don Shula, Chuck Noll and Tom Landry. Pearson also played alongside hall of famers such as Terry Bradshaw and Tony Dorsett. Pearson last appeared in the NFL in 1980. Pearson's help was sought during the formation of the Asia Pacific Football League and is currently the president of Pro-Style Associates.
