Placido Polanco is a professional baseball player who came from Dominican Republic. Playing mainly as a third baseman, he also serves as a shortstop and a second baseman for the teams he work with in the Major League Baseball. He was chosen to play in the professional baseball field by the St. Louis Cardinals on June 2, 1994. He was a 19th round selection in that year's Major League Baseball amateur draft. His first winning moment in the majors was in 1998 when he scored a hit against Brett Tomko of the Cincinnati Reds in a game on the fifth of July. He was also awarded the Silver Slugger trophy for his excellent batting skills. As of June 2010, his career statistics include a .304 batting average, 606 runs batted in and 865 runs.
