Philip Wheeler is an American pro football player currently playing as linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. Wheeler was born on Dec 12, 1984 in Columbus, Georgia and graduated in Shaw High School which, as a sophomore in 2000, he led to win the Georgia High School Association's Quadruple-A Football State Championship. Wheeler took his college studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology and was notable for playing college football at college with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets . He was named two-time All Atlantic Coast Conference Second Team in 2006 and 2007 right before he was drafted in the national league. He started his career in pro football when he was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts during the 2008 NFL Draft being the third round pick of the team. As a pro football player, Wheeler is considered by experts to be one of the best linebackers, as he is extremely difficult to knock off his feet, one sports review said. During his rookie season in 2008, Wheeler participated in sixteen games as a reserve linebacker. He had a finish in that season with three defensive stops, two solo and fourteen special teams tackle. In his second season, in 2009, he also participated in sixteen games, having fifty two tackles, thirty four solo and one sack.
