Philip Donald Haugsted was a former Major League Baseball player who was born on Februsry 23, 1924 in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. He batted and threw with his right hand and was lidted at 6 ft. 2 in. and 165 lbs. He played as a pitcher in the league. According to reviews, he started playing baseball before the 1946 season. He was drafted to play in the Major Baseball League as a free agent by the Brooklyn Dodgers. His very first Major League Baseball appearance was on September 1, 1947 for the Dodgers. On May 25, 1952, he was signed by the Cincinnati Reds which bought his contract from the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was released by the Cincinnati Reds on July 2, 1952 and on that same day, he signed a deal as a free agent with another MLB team, the St. Louis Browns. His final Major League Baseball Appearance was on July 1, 1952 for the Cincinnati Reds. In his whole MLB career, he managed to make a record of 1-1 and had 5.59 earnrd run average with 28 strikeouts. On October 21, 1998, Phil Haugstad died in Black River Falls in Wisconsin. His remains are placed at Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls.
