Pat Verbeek Autographs

Born on May 24, 1964 in Sarnia, Ontario, Patrick Verbeek is a former hockey player known as the “Little Ball of Hate”, a nickname given to him by Glenn Healy after his teammate Ray Ferraro was named the “Big Ball of Hate”. He started his hockey career by signing with the New Jersey Devils in the 1982 National Hockey League Entry Draft, placing 43rd overall. He was a part of the Devils' first playoff stint in the 1987- 1988 season. He scored 46 goals during the regular season, a club record during that time. He stayed one more season with the Devils then was traded to the Hartford Whalers. During his first season with his new team, he led them in goal scoring and was named MVP in his second season. He made his first appearance in the All Star team in 1991 and was named captain of the Whalers the following season. He stayed with the Rangers for a short while then signed with the Dallas Stars as a free agent where he won his first Stanley Cup in 1999. Verbeek signed with the Detroit Red Wings in the 1999- 2000 season. He made major achievements during his stay with Detroit, including moving into the top 25 in career goals. He then returned to Dallas for his final NHL season in 2001- 2001. He worked as a part time color analyst for the Red Wings' game after retirement. He left the broadcasting stint in 2006 to become scout to the Red Wings. He is the only hockey player in NHL to total over 500 career goals and 2500 career penalty minutes. He was quoted ranking his Stanley Cup, his 500th career goal, and scoring the penalty shot against the Rangers as his first, second, and third best hockey memories, respectively.
