Patrick Riley, more popularly called as Pat, is a retired professional basketball player who was brought up in Schenectady. He had a baseball career for 22 seasons and pursued his basketball career in the National Basketball Association. He started as a high school varsity athlete at Linton High School where he played under the supervision of Bill Rapavy and Ed Catino. In college, he played both football and basketball and was named to the All-American team. He was also a great part of the team's NCAA championship. He tried out in the National Basketball Association draft in 1967 and was chosen by the San Diego Rockets. He was also drafted in the National Football League that time but he opted to pursue his basketball career with the Portland Trail Blazers . However, he was immediately sent to the Los Angeles Lakers in which he shared as significant role during the National Basketball Association Finals in the 1972 season. He also played for the Phoenix Suns for the 1975 to 1976 seasons and ended his professional basketball career after his stint with the team. He logged a career statistics of 7.4 points per game and 41.4 field goal percentages. After his successful NBA playing career, he worked as a coach of the Los Angeles Lakers and also served the same position for the New York Knicks .
