A former shortstop in Major League Baseball, Ozzie Guillen was born in Miranda State, Venezuela on January 20, 1964. Guillen was truly a gifted player. He is known well because of his ability in playing the game and his passion for it. He received the AL Rookie of the Year in 1985 as well as The Sporting News Rookie of the Year awards. In 1988, 1990 to 1991, he won the All Star. The Gold Glove Award was also won by him in 1990. He is currently the manager of the Chicago White Sox. He got famous also because, he was the only and the first Latin-born manager in the history that managed a team and won a World Series. He was hired by the White Sox as a manager to take the place of Jerry Manuel. His contract with the team was extended on May 30, 2005. Guillen led the team to various victories. Since 1959 he again led the team to their first AL pennant and also their first World Series win. In November in the season of 1995, he was named the AL Manager of the Year. He played with the White Sox wherein, he played from 1985-1997, one year for the Baltimore Orioles in 1998, from 1998-1999 with the Atlanta Braves and year 2000 with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
