Graham played in the National Football League for the Cleveland Browns and also in the National Basketball League for the Rochester Royals. He went to Northwestern University after he was offered a basketball scholarship. Graham was an All-American. He decided to play football after he was persuaded by the university's football coach. Throughout his college years, Graham spent four years playing basketball, three years playing football, and two years playing baseball. Graham entered the 1994 NFL Draft and was picked by the Detroit Lions during the first round of the draft, making him the fourth overall pick. However, he did not sign with Detroit because he had to enlist himself. He signed with the Cleveland Browns in 1946. Throughout his football career, Graham was named into five consecutive Pro Bowl selections, in 1950 to 1954. He also made it to nine All-Pro selections, in 1946 to 1949 and in 1951 to 1955. He was in the second team of the All-Pro in 1950. Graham was also named in the NFL 75th Anniversary Team, and 1950's All-Decade Team. Graham also took the 1945 National Basketball League title with the Rochester Royals and was inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and College Football Hall of Fame.
