Othella Harrington is a professional basketball athlete who hails from Jackson Mississippi. He is a National Basketball Association player who began his career at Murrah High School. According to reviews, he was among the top two best players in the nation in high school and had a senior record of 28.9 points per game average and 24.9 per game rebound average. He was 1992 Most Valuable Player of the Year in the McDonald's All American Game. He went to Georgetown University in college and played under John Thompson. He was a recipient of the Big East Freshman of the Year recognition and became part of the All-American second team. He was fifth in the school's all-time scoring record and was made the most number of offensive rebounds all-time. Harrington started his professional career in the 1996 NBA Draft where he was selected to play for the Houston Rockets during the second round of the draft. He spent three seasons with the Rockets and was traded to the Vancouver Grizzlies on August 27, 1999 together with several teammates.
