He emerged into the football scene after the Cincinnati Bengals drafted him for the 2000 NFL Draft during the sixth round. Rackers created an NFL record for kicking his 40th field goal for the season in January 1, 2006. As a reward, he got to play in the 2006 Pro Bowl, and was named by ESPN.com as the Most Valuable Fantasy Football Kicker of 2005. Rackers also got a chance to play for the Arizona Cardinals .
