A former star left fielder in Major League Baseball, Minnie Minoso was born in Havana, Matanzas, Cuba, on November 29, 1922. He was nicknamed as “The Cuban Comet”, “Mr. White Sox” and “El Charro Negro”. He was the stand-out third baseman player in the Negro Leagues. In Mexican baseball, Minoso played in several seasons. In 1940s to 1980s, he is among the two players in major league history to play in five separate decades. He was the only player that has played professionally in seven different decades.
