Matt Geiger is a retired professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball Association and was a center for the Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets and the Philadelphia 76ers. Geiger was born in Salem, Massachusetts and attended Clearwater, Florida's Countryside High School. He decided to go to Auburn University where he played collegiate basketball. Geiger transferred to Georgia Tech where he continued to play basketball. He became eligible to join the 1992 NBA Draft and was selected by the Miami Heat as the 42nd overall pick during the second round of the draft. He spent a total of 10 seasons in the NBA before retiring in 2002. During his time in the NBA, Geiger had a good mid-range jump shot and his rebounding was commendable as well. He stayed on with the Miami Heat until 1995 when he was traded to the Charlotte Hornets. Geiger played on until 1998 and was again traded but this time to the Philadelphia 76ers. He would have enjoyed a longer career in the NBA but a knee injury cut forced him into retirement. By the end of his career in 2002, Geiger had a 9.2 ppg and 5.7 rpg average. He was able to post 5,059 points, 3,158 rebounds and 388 assists after playing for 10 seasons.
