Born on September 15, 1956 in Jamaica, New York, Marcus John Iavaroni is a former professional basketball player who is more famous by the name Marc Iavaroni. He started playing in the National Basketball Association when he was 26 years old and was part of the great 1980s Philadelphia 76ers teams. He also played for the San Antonio Spurs as a starter and for the Utah Jazz. He was part of the Philadelphia 76ers championship in 1983. Aside from the National Basketball League, Iavaroni also appeared in other basketball leagues which include teams in Brescia, Malaga and Forli. He spent six seasons in Italy and Spain ad finally ended his professional playing career in 1992. After retirement, he went to coaching and worked for the University of Virginia which is his alma mater. He also worked as an assistant coach for two seasons at the Bowling Green State University. In 1997, he started coaching in NBA when he worked as an assistant coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He also became the director for player development of the Miami Heat and was named as head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies in 2007, which released him in 2009. In 2009, it was said that he will be working as an assistant coach for the Toronto Raptors.
