Lorenzen Wright is a former American pro basketball athlete who played as forward for the Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the National Basketball Association. Wright was born in Memphis, Tennessee and took his college studies in University of Memphis where he also played college basketball before turning into pro athlete. Wright's pro basketball career began after he was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers during the 1996 NBA Draft being the first round pick of the team. Wright played for four seasons with the Clippers from 1996 up to 1999. After he was released by the team, Wright then joined the Atlanta Hawks at the end of the 1999 seasons and played until 2001. Wright, during his first season with the Hawks, along with three other Memphis-native NBA athletes Todd Day, Penny Hardaway and Elliot Perry provided financial assistance to a Memphis orphan, Travis Butler, whose tragic story garnered national attention. After leaving the Hawks in 2001, Wright later rejoined the team in 2006 after he played with Grizzlies and the Kings. Wright signed a deal with the Cavaliers in 2008m but his NBA career ended due to a tragic incident when he was reported to be missing on July 2010 and was later found dead six days after in a wooded area by Hacks Cross Road. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 1st round (7th pick, 7th overall) of the 1996 NBA draft.
