Leonard Anthony Harris is a retired baseball player who was born on October 28, 1964 in Miami, Florida. He was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 1983 Amateur Draft and made his first appearance in the league on September 7, 1988. Chosen in the fifth round of the draft, he batted with his left hand and threw with hid right. In his first season in MLB, he made a batting average of .372 and appeared in 16 games for the Reds. The next year, he played 61 games in which he recorded a .223 batting average. He was transferred to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1989 with which he stayed until 1993. After a period with the Dodgers, he went to free agency in 1993 and then moved in 1998 to the New York Mets. He joined the Colorado Rockies after some seasons with the Mets and reviews said he played magnificent games with them. His next best year was in 2002 with the Milwaukee Brewers when he played 122 games and batted at .305. In 2003, he played for the Chicago Cubs and after 75 games, moved to the Florida Marlins where he became part of the championship in the World Series in 2003. After his playing career, he became the Washington Nationals' infield coordinator and after some time, became the team's hitting coach. However, he was fired on September 28, 2008 and on October of the same year, worked for the Los Angeles Dodgers' minor league team.
