Kevin Gamble is a retired professional basketball player. He was a shooting guard and a small forward in the National Basketball Association from 1987 to 2000. Gamble went to Lanphier High in Springfield, Illinois and played in the varsity team. He was able to lead the Lions to the Class AA State Basketball Championship. Helping the team clinch the victory, Gamble was named into the All-Tournament team. Gamble went to Lincoln College in Illinois and, with the help of head coach Alan Pickering, he was able to polish up his defensive skills. After playing for Lincoln for two seasons, Gamble decided to transfer to the University of Iowa and was able to play alongside B.J. Armstrong, Roy Marble, Les Jepsen and Ed Horton. He was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers during the 1987 NBA Draft. Although he was able to fill in for veterans who suffered injuries, he was benched to make way for first drafts. In 1988, Gamble decided to play for the Quad Thunder City of the Continental Basketball Association. After a short stint in the Philippines, he was able to score an average of 27.8 points per game and was invited by the Boston Celtics to play for them in the NBA. In the 1990-91 season, he was able to post an average of 15.6 ppg.
