Kenneth Clay Gattison, better known as Kenny Gattison, was born May 23, 1964 in Wilmington, North Carolina. He is a retired professional basketball player. A four-year letterman at Old Dominion University, Gattison also became an NBA assistant coach after his playing career ended. At Old Dominion University, he became Sun Belt Conference's all time rebound leader with his record of 963 recoveries. He was the fourth all-time rebound leader at the said university. Drafted by Phoenix Suns in round 3 of 1986 NBA Draft, he played for 3 different teams in National Basketball Association. He was a member of the Phoenix Suns from 1986 to 1988, Vancouver Grizzlies from 1995-1996 and Charlotte Hornets from 1989-1995. Playing as a forward center, Gattison was traded to Orlando Magic on February 22, 1996 and to Utah Jazz on August 9, 1996. Sources say he played for 494 games in his entire NBA career and scored an amazing 3,923 points. The 1991-1992 NBA Season was his prime season with 12.7 points average and 7.1 rebounds per game in 82 games. A 6 foot 8 inches player, he then became an assistant coach after retiring. He worked for New Jersey Nets and then returned to Old Dominion in 2001. He was an assistant coach of his alma mater's team until 2003. He was also an assistant coach for New Orleans unitl June 2009.
