Justin Michael Hampsen is a professional football player who was born on May 24, 1980 in Belleville, Illinois. He was a baseball varsity athlete at Southwestern Illinois College. As a college baseball player, he showed exemplary skills that made him an All-Conference selection. In 1999, the Colorado Rockies drafted him during round 28 of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. He appeared in the Major League Baseball for the first time on September 10, 2006 for the Rockies. After his stint with the Rockies, he joined the San Diego Padres in 2007. According to many reviews, his finest season was in 2008 with the Padres. On August 10 of that year, he pitched fifth to seventh innings after Chris Young, a starter, gave up four innings. The Padres won with 16-7 score in that game. On April 1, 2009, Hampson left the San Diego Padres. Hampson is currently playing for the Oakland Athletics that he joined on May 27, 2009 via minor league deal. He bats and throws left-handed and made a record of 5-4 win-loss ratio and 62 strikeouts with 3.38 earned run average as of 2008.
