Herman Franks Autographs

Herman Louis Franks was born in January 4, 1914 and died just a year ago in March 30, 2009. Herman hails from Price, Utah. This American has various roles in his lifetime as a catcher, manager, scout, coach, , general manager of Major League Football teams. Amazingly for this player, while he hits with his left-hand, he also uses his right-hand in throwing. During college, he entered the University of Utah. He started with baseball in 1932 together with Hollywood Stars of the Pacific Coast League. But some time later, the St. Louis Cardinals got him to join in their immense farm system. In 1939, while playing for the Cardinals in just 17 games and 17 at-bats, he was chosen by the team Brooklyn Dodgers. He was positioned as a second-string catcher in 1940. He also served the country during World War II but did not leave the sport as he was also playing for the St. Paul Saints. He returnedto the league with the Philadelphia Athletics, appearing in 48 games all in all. As coach, in 1949, he worked harmoniously as a right-hand with Durocher for the team New York Giants. Sources say that Franks was known to support the Durocher-style of coaching which is the to-win-at-any-cost baseball and playing roughly in the field which would include intimidation and brushback pitching. During 1956 to 1964, Franks worked as a Giants' scout, and general manager for the Salt Lake City Bees. This talented and multi-gifted athlete has lots of memorabilia for sale in SignedAutographed.com like MLB photomints and coins and MLB photos for all enthusiasts and fans.
