Harvey Lavance Williams was born on April 22, 1967. He was a native of Hempstead, Texas. He was a former professional American football running back for the Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs. Harvey was touted as one of the country's top high school running back in 1986. He was rumored to be committed to Texas A&M, but shocked everyone when he signed with the LSU in the last minute of contract signing. Harvey was expected to play outrageous and unrealistic caliber of running back. The fans are hoping that he will be awarded with a Heisman Trophy but due to knee injuries that hit him, he never received one. Williams had a decent career despite of the injury, he ran for 2,800 yards in his 4 years in LSU and fifth in LSU history in career all-purpose yards. In his last year in LSU, he was named to the All-SEC team. By his performance, Williams was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of National Football League in 1991. With the Kansas City Chiefs, Williams played for a limited time during the first two seasons. He played behind by Barry Word and Christian Okoye because he was outplayed in rushing yards. In 1994, Williams moved to the Los Angeles Raiders wherein he gets the chance to be in the starting lineup and responded very well with 2 good seasons. His most memorable game as a pro happened in the year 1997; he scored 4 touchdowns in an 83-12 win over the San Diego Chargers .
