After his Major League Baseball career, Hoffman played in the Nippon Professional Baseball for the team Orix Blue Wave. He played for the Blue Wave from 1989 to 1991. He posted a career record of 17-17 win-loss ratio and made 187 strikeouts with a 4.25 earned run average. He played 137 games in six seasons and started 31 of these games.
