Greg Golson is a professional baseball player who is currently in the active roster of the New York Yankees in the Major League Baseball. Golson is an outfielder and has been playing professionally since 2004. He made his MLB debut for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008. Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Golson attended the John Connally High School and entered the 2004 Major League Draft straight after graduating high school. He was picked by the Philadelphia Phillies during the first round of the draft and was the 21st overall pick. He was tasked to play in the Gulf Coast League for the Phillies' affiliate in that league. He was able to come up with a .295 batting average and was exceptionally good at stealing bases. In 2005, Golson was assigned to play for the Lakewood BlueClaws and was considered as one of the best Phillies' prospects. In September 2008, Golson was able to make his MLB debut for the Phillies. However, he was traded to the Texas Rangers in exchange for John Mayberry, Jr. and spent most of his 2009 season playing for the Oklahoma RedHawks. He has a batting average of .289 for the entire time that he played for the RedHawks. In January 2010, Golson was sent to the New York Yankees.
