Nicknamed “Gira”, Gordan Giricek is a professional basketball player born on June 20, 1977 in Yugoslavia. He was a player for the National Basketball Association before he joined the Fenerbahce Ulker. He stands 6 ft. 7 in. tall and is a small forward and shooting guard at the same time. He was picked by Dallas Mavericks in round 2 of the 1999 NBA Draft where he was 40th overall. He was in Croatia until the 2001 season and played with CSKA Moscow of Euroleague with which he signed a contract. In the 2004 NBA Draft, he became part of the team Memphis Grizzlies. He scored 29 points for the Grizzlies and was then traded to Orlando Magic and in 2003-2004 seasons to Utah Jazz. With the Jazz, he was known to be a competent part of the defense. He also became part of the Philadelphia 76ers, where he appeared in 12 games and spent two months with them, and the Phoenix Sunsbefore he came back to Europe where he signed a two-year contract with the Euroleague Club. On May 15, 2010, he left the club and became a member of the Croatian National Basketball Team. He played for Croatia in five European Championship in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005.
