Glen Wesly, born on October 2, 1968, is a Canadian native and a ice hockey defenceman who played with the Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL for almost 10 seasons. He also played along with the Boston Bruins, Hartford Whalers, and lastly with the Toronto Maple Leafs . The 3rd overall pick from the Portland Winter Hawks, he was drafted in 1987 by the Boston Bruins. He played 202 regular games for over 3 seasons, scored 49 goals and had an assist numbers of 125 for 224 points. He joined the Carolina Hurricanes in 1997 after playing for the Whalers. Before the trade deadline in 2003 he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs, wherein he played for the remaining games of the 2002-2003. At the end of that said season, he re-signed with the Hurricanes and has been a key player for the 2003-2004 seasons. With the Carolina Hurricanes, Wesly won his first ever Stanley Cup defeating the opposing team Edmonton Oilers (his favorite childhood team). He remained with the Hurricanes after he signed the contract for one more season on June 1, 2007. He announced his retirement after his 20th NHL season with almost 10 seasons in Carolina Hurricanes on June 5, 2008.
