Glenn Edward Hoffman was born on July 7, 1958 in Orange, California. He is a former player in the Major Baseball League. He was selected by the Boston Red Sox in round two of the 1976 amateur draft and spent seven years with the team. His first Major League Baseball game was on April 12, 1980. He played as a Boston Red Sox shortstop from 1980 to 1987 and was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers after his stint with the Red Sox. He also played for the California Angels which he signed in 1989. He was able to appear in 48 games only for the Angels. He made his final MLB appearance on September 23, 1989 for the Angels. He posted a career statistics of 23 home runs, .242 batting average and 210 runs batted in. After his playing career, he went to coach a few MLB teams and managed the Los Angeles Dodgers farm system and was also the team's AAA team manager. He worked as the third base coach for the Dodgers in 1999 and worked under Davey Johnson, the team's manager. His brother, Trevor Hoffman is also a part of the Major Baseball League. Currently, Glenn Hoffman is the third base coach for the San Diego Padres.
