Gilbert Patterson, known simply as Gil, is a retired professional baseball player who also worked as a coach for a few minor league teams. He entered the league with the New York Yankees which picked him from the Major League Baseball amateur draft of 1975. His Major League Baseball debut came on April 19, 1977 for his parent team and thereafter, he showcased impressive plays in the major league. He appeared in ten games for the New York Yankees and made a record of a single win and lost two games. After his stint with the Yankees, he went to play in the minor leagues. He spent the entire 1977 season in the Major League Baseball before being a part of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 1997 season. He stayed with the team until the 2000 season, which happened to be his last season in the minor as a player, the following year; he was hired by the Toronto Blue Jays to work for the team as a bullpen coach. After serving the said position for the 2001 season, he became the team's pitching coach for the 2002 season, and had his final season in the said position in 2004. He also worked for the Columbus Clippers as a coach and with the Gulf Coast League Yankees in 2006.
