An honoured member of the Hockey hall of Fame, Canadian professional hockey goaltender, Claude Earl “Chuck” Rayner played nine seasons in the National Hockey League for the two prominent hockey teams which are the New York Americans and the New York Rangers . Chuck Rayner excelled in the profession he chose to and that would be playing hockey. Because of his efforts and commitments in the game, he won an award in the Turnbull Cup for MJHL Championship in 1940. It never stopped there because he earned some achievements in AHL Second all-Star Team in 1941. He also participated in the NHL Second All-Star team and his achievements continued as he played in the NHL All-star Game in 1949, 1950 and 1951. He won the Hart Memorial Trophy in 1950 and inducted in the Hockey hall of Fame in 1973. He was ranked No.16 in the All-Time List of New York Rangers (100 Ranger Greats) in 2009. Rayner showed extreme skills as he plays hockey and won the Championship to the Memorial Cup in 1940. As he turned a professional player for the Americans, he spent most of the year playing in the minor league for the affiliate, Springfield Indians of the AHL. He was playing smoothly and leading the American's final season before he signed as a free agent with the Rangers in 1945. He grew up in Canada, born in Sutherland, Saskatchewan on August 11, 1920. Chuck Rayner died on October 5, 2002 at the age of 82, leaving the fans and the rink of the hockey world full of good game memories.
