In 1992, Juan “Chi-Chi” Rodriguez became the first Puerto Rican to be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. He has had a distinguished career on and off the golf course. Other recipients of the Bob Jones award went to Bing Crosby and Bob Hope, George H. W. Bush, and Arnold Palmer . Chi-Chi Rodriguez is the holder of eight PGA Tour titles from 1963 through 1979. His first major event which he won was the Denver Open Invitational in 1963. According to sources, this was his most favorite win in his career. He represented Puerto Rico on 12 World Cup teams, and was honored with the Replica's Hispanic Man of the Year award in 1988. He lost to well-known Jack Nicklaus in 1992 at the U.S. Senior Open.
