Brian Stephen Giles, a former Major League Baseball player, was born on January 20, 1971 in El Cajon, California. An American Association All-Star, he played a total of 130 games for the Cleveland California. He was an outfielder who played for several teams including Cleveland Indians, San Diego Padres and Pittsburgh Pirates. He batted and threw with his left hand and was drafted by Cleveland Indians in round 17 of the 1989 Major League Baseball draft. In 1994 and 1995, he was included in Triple-A with his .313 batting average for Charlotte Indians in 1997 and 112 in 1998. He was traded to Pittsburgh Pirates on November 18, 1998 for Ricardo Rincon, a pitcher. In this team, he was known to be a powerful outfielder who possesses great discipline. He was awarded as National League Player of the Week in 2000 after making .400 hits, three home runs and 12 runs batted in. He was able to establish career-high games in 2001in terms of bats, runs and hits when he was with Pittsburgh Pirates. In 2003, he became a member of the San Diego Padres and played over 150 games for the 2004-2006 seasons. In his entire career, he was able to make 287 home runs, 411 double, 1,183 walks in 1,847 games and 1,078 runs batted in.
