Bob Walk is a former American professional baseball player. He hails from Van Nuys, California. Walk pitched for a few teams in the league; the Philadelphia Phillies, Atlanta Braves and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Walk stands 6 ft. 3 in. He pitched and batted using his right. Before entering the major leagues, Walk was once drafted by the California Angels in the 1975 amateur draft, however, Walker did not sign. Walk started his professional career after he was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies of the Major League Baseball in the 1976 amateur draft where he was the third round pick of the team and made his debut with the Phillies on May 26, 1980. During his rookie season in the Phillies, Walk recorded a victory in game one of the 1980 World Series. On March 25, 1981, Walk was dealt in exchange for Gary Matthews of the Atlanta Braves , he played between the main club and Triple-A until he was released in March 1984. The following month, Walk signed as free agent with the Pittsburgh Pirates. In his declining years, Walk served as swingman and spot starter for the Pirates that won three National League East titles from 1990 to 1992. His most memorable outing being when manager Jim Leyland named him as a surprise starter in game five of the 1992 National League Championship Series against Atlanta.
