American basketball player Blake Griffin was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He joined the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 2009 after he was picked by the Los Angeles Clippers. Griffin is the first overall pick for the draft. Prior to playing professionally, Griffin went to Oklahoma Christian School where he was able to help his team clinch four back-to-back state championships. Griffin was under the coaching and guidance of his very own father. By the end of his high school career, Griffin was named as Gatorade's Oklahoma Player of the Year and to both McDonald's and Jordan All-American teams. Griffin went on to attend the University of Oklahoma where he helped the Sooners to a 23-12 win loss record. He stayed only two years in college but managed to get into the Big 12 Conference during his first and second year. He was named as the Naismith Player of the Year in 2008. Although he has already appeared in the 2009 Summer League for the Los Angeles Clippers, Griffin is yet to make his NBA debut due to problems with his knee.
