Arthur Henry Howe, famously known as Art Howe, is a retired Major League Baseball player, scout and coach who also managed a few teams in the League. Born on December 15, 1946 in Pennsylvania, He attended the University of Wyoming where he played college baseball and signed to play in the Major League Baseball in 1971 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was traded to the Houston Astros after being a part time player for the Pirates for the 1974 to 1975 seasons/ With the Astros, he was able to play full time and served four positions in the infield. He was the Houston Astros' third baseman and sometimes second baseman from 1976 to 1982. He obtained an injury after the 1982 season which made him miss the whole 1983 season. His last team in the major league was the St. Louis Cardinals which he played for from 1984 to 1985. He played for 891 games in his entire playing career and recorded 43 home runs with .260 batting average. After his successful playing career, he coached the Texas Rangers and served as a scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He managed three teams in the MLB, the Houston Astros, the Oakland Athletics and the New York Mets. He had record of 1, 129 wins in his entire stay in the major league.
