Art Fowler was a retired professional baseball player and pitching coach in the Major League Baseball. He pitched for MLB teams like the Cincinnati Redlegs, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Los Angeles Angels. A native of Converse, South Carolina, is the younger brother of Jesse Fowler who was also a pitcher in the MLB. Art started his career in professional baseball by playing in the minor leagues. He spent almost ten eyars before making his MLB debut in 1954. Fowler played for the Atlanta Crackers in the Southern Association where he had an ERA of 3.03. He also excelled while playing for the Dainville Leafs of the Carolina League. Fowler was drafted by the Cinicinnati Redlegs in the MLB and became the team's relief pitcher. The first win that he recorded for his MLB career was in a match against the Chicago Cubs. By the end of his first season, he was posting an ERA of 3.83. He became a starter pitcher in the 1955 and 1956 seasons. He had a short stint with the Dodgers before playing for the Angels. From the 1961 to the 1963 seasons, Fowler had a commendable 2.96 earned run average in the 158 games that he pitched for.
