Andy Robustelli is a Hall of Famer in the National Football League or the NFL, inducted in 1971. Robustelli was drafted in the 19th round during the 1951 NFL Draft. Though he was considered to be a gamble for the Los Angeles Rams , he proved his worth by becoming an All-Pro in the 1953 and 1955 season through his determination and purpose . He played for the Los Angeles Rams and the New York Giants as an American defensive end, and is considered to be one of the finest defensive ends in pro football history. During the first 14 years of his career with the Rams and Giants, Robustelli missed only one game. Robustelli was born on December 7, 1925 in Stamford, Connecticut where he also attended high school and college. He enlisted in the United States Navy prior to playing football in college. He was naturally gifted at football and baseball, and was once offered to play baseball with Class AA Knoxville in 1951. Robustelli showed prominence in his NFL career with the New York Giants , and is recognized by many critiques as the one who molded the team in 1956 to win the championship. He was nominated to the Pro Bowl seven times, and also seven times named All Pro. In 1962, Robustelli was awarded as the NFL's Outstanding Player by the Maxwell Club.
