He was the 2nd round pick for the team in 1984 then he got traded to the Blue Jays in 1989 for Jesse Barfield. It was in 1995 that Leiter signed a three-year contract with the Marlins. Before he even appeared in not just 14 games in a season, he first spent his six years in the majors. He used to work with Sandy Koufax, a Hall of Famer, wherein he learned how to use the plate of the outer half and applying various speeds of pitches.
